Pointing a Domain from GoDaddy Account to Hosting on Another

Pointing a domain from one provider to another hosting in another provider is almost similar but below is an example of how to point GoDaddy domain in one account to hosting on another GoDaddy account.

From GoDaddy account which holds the hosting:

  1. Go to Web hosting > Manage.
  2. You will get a list of all your hosting packages, click Manage on the one you want to add the domain to.
  3. Depends on the plan you have then you can add several domains or just one main domain.
  4. Click on 'Change main domain' or 'Add domain' based on the plan you have.
  5. Select 'Enter a domain or subdomain'
  6. It will show you an IP of a DNS A record, copy this somewhere or to your clipboard.

From GoDaddy account which holds the hosting:

  1. Cick manage domains
  2. Click manage on the specific domain you want to make the change on.
  3. Edit the dns and place the IP we copied earlier to the 'A' record.

Point domain to hosting

Usually it works immidiatley but they say it can take up to 72 hours to reflect on all DNS servers around the world, in the mean time you can use tools like GeoPeeker to see how your domain appears in different regions.
